“AKF mourns the tragic, untimely passing of the loyal Askal, Buboy,” AKF says. “Run free #Buboy. Gone too soon. L Every animal-loving Filipino mourns today.”

According to one of the teachers, Buboy followed the school guard who just finished his shift. However, no one noticed that the dog had already reached the highway and was run over by a vehicle. The school is still conducting an investigation on the incident.

The name of the school and the driver’s identity has not been provided yet.

“This mind-numbing incident, a tragic end to Buboy’s story, mirrors how we neglect the loyal and loving askals – exposing them to dangers even when we have the chance to take care of them. They deserve better – loving families and secured homes,” AKF continues.

The organization added that motorists should consider slowing down to create a safer place for stray animals.

Buboy won the hearts of many after a video of him waiting by the faculty room in Mabalacat City College in Pampanga for his long-time caretaker, professor Carmelito Marcelo, who died very recently, became viral on social media last May 18.
